The Mermaid Appeal

During 2010 a highly successful appeal to set up a kidney dialysis unit at the hospital was led by Chris Geering in memory of his wife Helen who died in Decemeber 2009 of kidney failure.  The high point of the year's fundraising was the Mermaid Ball held in Burnham Overy Staithe and attended by 650 supporters. The event raised over just £30,000 towards the £120,000 appeal which was successfully raised with thanks to the local community and the unit opened on 4th July 2011 and has had many grateful patients enjoy the facility.
