Drive to access Department of Health funding

Helen Tucker, whose expertise was so valuable during the Save Wells Hospital Campaign and who helped to lay the foundations for the new Wells Community Hospital, has been recruited to help our team in its drive to access Dept of Health funding to complete the building work. The public consultation in 2005 awarded the present Charitable Trust, in partnership with the NHS, with the task of creating a community hospital with beds, and this is still our prime and urgent objective.

Jennie Spencer & Ian Drakard of Holt Foot Clinic have now expanded their services to cover the Wells and Coastal locality. Established providers of foot care services, they are able to offer a full range of foot care treatments including;Care of Callus & Corns,
Ingrowing toe nails (including surgical intervention), Diabetic foot checks,
Biomechanical assessment and Orthotics,
Shoe fitting and supply. The clinic is running every Thursday - appointments £32.50 first assessment & £27.50 follow up.

Counselling Service starting January 2009

COUNSELLING SERVICEAn adult counselling service is being held at the Wells Community Hospital, commencing Monday 5 January 2009 between 9am and 2.30pm every other week. There will also be opportunity to learn more about relaxation techniques and help with anxiety. Jeanne is a practising person centred counsellor and cognitive behaviour therapist. She has worked within the community sector for over 14 years. The sessions will be on a one to one basis for 50 mins . There is a sliding scale to help those with limited finances. Counselling can help both male and female individuals in many difficult life situations. The results of counselling might be: o Raising self esteem
o Boost confidence
o Believe in yourself
